Dear All, On Monday a young male who was arrested in Vincent Square last October by officers from the local ward team was sentenced. He was jailed for three years for Possession with Intent to Supply Class A drugs. Jason Bernard had previous convictions for dealing drugs in our local area and was known to the team. He was arrested by officers leaving an address on the ward which was long suspected of being a centre for drug dealing and consumption. This address has subsequently been the subject of a successful closure order. Bernard attempted to make off from officers; after a short foot chase he was detained in Vincent Square and found to be in possession of large quantities of Class A drugs, a lot of cash and drug paraphernalia. His most recent involvement in local drug dealing came to police notice from intelligence delivered by a resident of the ward. This included video material of Bernard conducting a drug deal on one of our streets. We are happy that Bernard has received a significant sentence and will be off our streets for a considerable period of time. This has been a case where collaboration with ward residents has provided invaluable evidence leading to a successful conviction. Thank you. | ||
